59Tis the Season when everyone thinks about giving. Wouldn't it be wonderful if people could think like that all year round? Giving should not come once a year, but throughout the year. Yes I agree that times are tough,but there is more than one way to give to a Charity. if you cannot afford to donate money to Charity then think about volunteering your time. It will enrich your life as well as the life of others. In this hub there will be several ideas on how you can make Charity contributions whether it be monetary or volunteer work.
The Make A Wish Foundation
If you are not familiar, this organization helps make wishes come true to children with life threatening medical conditions. The foundations boast it makes over 185,00 wishes come true every forty minutes. The organization states it has reached 174,000 children around the world. The Foundation offers many ways for you to help. First off you can make monetary Donation. You can also volunteer your time. There are several ways to do this. You can donate your time to do public speaking, or office work. You can also help make a child's dream come true. There is even a Website on Ebay that you can shop and make bids on selected items. You can also donate materials or other treasures. The Make Wish Foundation is always looking for build supplies or something to action off on their Ebay website. The link will also be below. I bet you didn't know that you can donate any unused airline miles to Make Wish as well. Your donated Airline Miles will make a difference to child in need of fulfilling their wish. If you have any leftover hotel points the Make A wish Foundation will also gladly accept those as well.

Volunteers of America
Volunteers of America assist nearly 400 communities throughout 44 States and affect nearly one million people. This faith based agency reaches out to children the elder, the homeless, those individuals getting out of prison, people with addictions and people with disabilities. Their efforts encompass many many people. There are many ways to give to this organization. They are always looking for vehicles, cars or RV's. Monetary donations are always acceptable. You can also volunteer your time. The organization boasts nearly 70,000 volunteers at this time. You can volunteer in the local office chapter or join an action team. Recently an Action team teamed up with some major league baseball players They went into the schools together with the message that its cool to volunteer. The message worked because 19,000 teen are active volunteers now.
The Nature Conservency
If you are more geared toward protecting the environment then you may want to give to charities that protect the environment. One such agency is the Nature Conservancy. This organization states it helps protect the Earth's most important places. You can help this organization in several creative ways. Firstly and always you can donate money. You can do this online once or you can make monthly payments. You can also adopt a coral reef or an acre of land. You can adopt the land or coral reef at fifty dollars per acre. You get a fact sheet and pictures about the area you adopted. magnets, and access to a personalized home page on the Nature Conservancy website. Also included are four free issues of the Nature Conservancy Magazine. Also Pew Charitable trusts will match any donation you make! There is a lot of land to adopt all over the world, Australia, Peru and even here in The Appalachian mountains! You can also participate in the Plant Billion trees campaign. The Conservatory wants to plant a Billion Trees in a an effort to restore the Atlantic Rainforest. If you want to help Military families in Need then Check out Operation Homefront. This organization helps the families left behind when their loved ones leave for duty. A very timely charity for Veteran's Day. This Charity is also setting a up an Emergency Tragedy Fund for the Families that were affected by the devastating acts that took Place in Ft Hood Texas last week. Below is the link to Operation Home front. It Will direct yo how to make a monetary donation to help support these families. There are other ways to give if you live near a chapter. You can volunteer your time to the numerous programs they have. One program Operation Home front teamed up with the Dollar Store to Offer 3.8 million toys to those families in need at Christmas. Another program highlights the Sept ember 11 Freedom Walk held Nationwide. This charity is also looking for Sponsors to offer free or discounted services to veterans. Perhaps you have heard the slogan, Live Strong and seen it on a bracelet or two. This is the motto for Lance Armstrong's Foundation to fight Cancer. The website asks you to get involved by advocating at your legislature. You can run or walk during the Live Strong Challenge events. Also you can volunteer in local activities.
