Sigh it's that time again. I pull out of my dresser drawer a series of bras one after the other. The first one is a brown Body by Victoria Bra, my favorite but it has seen better days. The under wire has some how manged to break and one hook is missing on the back. It will lift and separate no more! The next bra is also Victoria Secret as well, a sale item. However it is one of those bras you can wear occasionally. It offers great support but By the end of the day it is suffocating me . The next bra is my standby. An old Hanes bra that fits but has the annoying strap that constantly falls off my shoulder. I pull out yet another bra, pink and satin, but does not fit. Maybe I am fooling myself into thinking it will fit again someday. Just too pretty to give away. So I resign my self to the fact it is time to go shopping for a suitable bra again.. but which one?
I have always gone to Victoria Secret for Bras .. figuring they would last longer than their cheaper counterparts. However three Victoria secret Body By Victoria's later I find that is not true. One of the reasons I have shopped there is for measurement purposes. I always find someone else doing my measurements is much more accurate. I am not one to spend much time buying a bra. I just want one that basically fits and feels good. I know that finding the right bra will not make my waist smaller, increase my confidence or in any way make me a voluptuous supermodel.
Then there is the type of bra. The Underwire, the Padded, The Push Up, the Full Coverage ,the full figure and the very daring Demi. As well as countless more. All serve different puposes for differnt body types. Higly reccomeded that you try on the different styles before purchasing them. You may not like the fit when you get home.

Consumer-reports.org states the Gilligan O'Malley Bra that is sold for a mere 11.00 is a favorite of women who took their survey. They compared that bra to a Victoria Secret Bra and to La Perla Vintage bra that sells for a whopping 127 dollars. The one seen to the left costs 14.99! The Gilligan Omalley Collection is sold at Target and can also be ordered on line at Target.com and Amazon.com
SheFinds.org states the Wacoal bra is the best. Women who wore them were happy with the fit and the comfort. I have never heard of this brand. This website also give mention to the Gap Bra sold at you guessed it.. the Gap. An average price is 36.00. Another mention form this site is the Playtex bra. Featured bras here are the Playtex 18 Hour bra and the Thank Goodness It Fits bra. They probably do the job, they just don't look very pretty! These bras average around 27.00.
Also featured on this site is the Lilly of France bra. I have never heard of this one eaither but it looks good and is reasonably priced. The picture featured here is 20.00

Hanes Her Way bras are very affordable. This one is under ten dollars. I have had these before but don't think they last long.
So these are some of the top mentions form other websites. As for me .. I think I will venture my way to Target to see what Gilligan O'malley has to offer :)

I can't figure out how anyone ever buys a bra online?????I tried on about 40 bras at 4 different stores and got measured 3 times, all were different measurments. The one I bought is not even all that comfortable. Just asking if others have this trouble.

I like Bali bras. I'm a little unusual because I'm a 34C and it seems hard to find anything beyond 34B, but Bali makes them in my size and they are comfortable, attractive and last a while which is all good!

i never knew I always had a different method of measuring... *tee hee* but this is still good info- but buying a bra is like a suicide misson for guys very few of us can complete the mission and make it back alive- I have reserved that mission to my wife safety first always -i just request a full inspection afterwards.

I must say that the Victoria's Secret bras fit and feel the best. Hands down.
You might want to take a look at Breeze Comfort padded bras and sports bras. The bras are made with patented bra pad technology. The bra pads have perforations throughout to facilitate air circulation to the breast area. This helps release heat and helps prevent sponge effect (sweat collecting in the traditional bra pads).

Great hub, the brand I like the best, not due to price but because they do what they are supposed to and they fit great are Cacique Plunge Bras. They are fantastic, except they run at about $48.00 so I usually try to wait for a sale and stock up. :)

Personally I wouldn’t buy from VS unless I am looking for something sexy and short term wear in other words if I am going to wear the bra for hours etc I wouldn’t get the VS brands. Those are just as they are advertised, sexy and to be sexy. For a bra to be worn for hours, as in work, etc you would need to wear the Bali, JMS, etc for a comfort.
I am a dissappointed customer of VS as all the bra straps comes out very easily which is very embarrassing. Especially the straps that can be used for differnt looks.I am foing to target now.

victoria's secrets bras a made not to last long... they just want more money but my favorite bra is miracle by victorias secret it gives me cleavage and i'm only an a cup.
Good overview but I think the bottom line is, everyone is different, because everyone's boobs are a different shape! I find Oroton bras are a fabulous fit on me and Target is pretty good too - but Bendon never, ever, ever fits and neither does Berlei. Nothing to do with price, really.

Gilligan is the way to go! I have bought 4 or 5 of their bras and am convinced they out do VS hands down. The cups last longer, as do the bands. I will not return to VS. Oh, and a less than half the prices of VS, you can't go wrong. I love Gilligan's bras and even have converted my mother and sister to her, both of which used to be loyal to VS.

Everytime my wife goes into the lingerie store to buy a bra I beg to go with her into the back while she gets fitted. She never lets me go. Something about it's being against policy and besides I see her every day. I simply tell her that each day and each time is unique and must be evaluated on it's own merit.

While I will confess to having removed a multitude of bras in my life I have never put one on. If I did, I would choose the opaque black Gilligan O'Malley.

I love the "Ultimate Fit" bra by Gilligan & O'Malley (Target), but they don't make/sell that style anymore. I had bought 6 of them (all I could find) a couple of years ago and they are getting very worn out. I've spent a fortune on other bras but none of them do what the Ultimate Fit can do so I never wear them. The Ultimate Fit is the most comfortable bra I've ever worn and it creates a fantastic silhouette. They were always hard to find in a 34D so I was forever searching for my size. When these finally bite the dust, I don't know what I'll do.
